The New Hope Bridge Ministry began with a passion for the poor. Compelled by the local church's vision, church members were drawn to feed, clothe, and preach the gospel to the homeless under a bridge. The ministry was inspired by a similar ministry in Nashville, TN led by Candy Christmas.
On January 20th, 2007, the ministry began in Augusta under the Calhoun Expressway Bridge at 15th Street. Now operating every Saturday, volunteers set up 250 chairs, food serving tables, a music system, and in the atmosphere of praise and worship the gospel is preached. Through the love of God, a full hot meal, clothing, hygiene products and bags of food are dispersed. Each month 1000+ hot meals are served, 600 hygiene bags are given out, and nearly 1000 items of clothing are given out. Volunteers prepare the hot meals in the kitchen on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. They also separate clothing items and stock the food pantry. During the winter months, a team of ladies meet that make hand made quilts for our brothers and sisters to keep warm.
As the ministry continues to grow, so does the need for volunteers. If you would like to assist in the ministry, please contact Roger Gardner at 706.868.6410 ext.18 or email him at email@example.com See the ministry in action for yourself on this video clip.
